“Minnesota Athletics: A Winning Legacy”

MINNEAPOLIS – The University of Minnesota and FOX 9 have reached an agreement for a local television broadcast partnership for 10 men’s hockey home games in the 2023-24 season, as announced on Thursday. This partnership is in addition to the 11 games selected by the Big Ten Network, seven of which will be played at home and four away, with one game airing on FS1 during the season. Selected away games, including Minnesota’s matches against North Dakota and Minnesota Duluth, will also be broadcast locally in the Twin Cities on FOX 9+.

“Marian Davey, the SVP/GM of FOX’s KMSP-WFTC, stated, “Minnesota is the State of Hockey, and the Golden Gophers are a major reason for that. We, at FOX 9/FOX 9+, are proud to further expand our longstanding partnership with the Gophers, especially with Golden Gopher men’s hockey.”

The extended coverage on FOX 9 and FOX 9+ will provide free over-the-air coverage for the remaining Golden Gophers home games that are not carried by BTN, ensuring that fans have the opportunity to watch every home game. All games broadcasted by FOX 9 can also be streamed live on B1G+ through smartphones, tablets, and connected devices.

Sam Eckstrom will be the play-by-play announcer for the FOX 9 coverage and will be joined in the booth by Pat Micheletti, the Gophers’ second all-time leading scorer.

All regular season and postseason games will also be available through the Gopher Radio Network, with Wally Shaver and Frank Mazzocco providing the commentary.
