According to an interview with Wired, Keke Palmer explained that her full name is Lauren Keyana Palmer, but she dislikes it when people credit Keyana for Keke. In reality, Keke should be credited for Keyana because her sister had an imaginary friend named Keke, which is how she got the nickname and influenced her full name.
In another interview with Glamour, Palmer revealed that initially only her family called her Keke. However, one day her manager overheard her mom calling her Keke because she wasn’t listening, and he suggested that should be her stage name. From that point on, Keke went from being a nickname used by her family to being the name recognized by the entire world. Despite this, Palmer expressed her desire to go back to being called Lauren.
