The State Government of Telangana Allocates Competent Authority Seats to Local Candidates in Non-Allopathy Health Sciences Admissions
Hyderabad: In a significant move, the State government of Telangana has allocated all competent authority seats (convener quota) in PG and UG courses related to non-allopathy health sciences to local candidates. This decision aims to prioritize local students from Telangana in admissions to these courses. The order, released to Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences (KNRUHS), allows the university to conduct additional rounds of counseling to fill up the quota seats with local students who may have missed out in earlier rounds.
The State government’s decision is expected to strengthen allied healthcare services in hospitals. Two years ago, a similar order was issued for MBBS/BDS and PG courses in medical and dental colleges established after the formation of the state. Recently, the government received approval from the High Court to give first preference to local students in the allocation of MBBS/BDS and PG medical seats. Following this, a similar order was issued for non-allopathy medical courses, including AYUSH, MD in Homeo, and nursing.
This move by the Telangana government demonstrates its commitment to promoting local talent and ensuring that local students have access to educational opportunities in the field of non-allopathy health sciences. The decision is expected to have a positive impact on the healthcare sector in the state.
