The women’s team at Notre Dame finished in seventh place with 208 points, finishing ahead of the likes of Vanderbilt and Washington State. Senior Taylor Kreitinger was the top finisher for the Maroon and Gold, placing 28th in a time of 17:11.3, a lifetime best time at the 5K distance. No. 1 ranked NC State won the meet with a total of 44 points, defeating host Notre Dame who finished second overall ahead of Alabama, UC Davis, Florida State and Pittsburgh.
Individually Doris Lemngole, a freshman from the University of Alabama, won the meet in a time of 16:05.9.
WOMEN’S 5K AT NOTRE DAME
The ‘U’ once again had a balanced group effort on Friday morning, with all five of the team’s scorers finishing within 30 seconds of one another. After Kreitinger’s 28th-place it was Emma Atkinson who came in next at 36th overall in a time of 17:22.6, a personal best at the 5K distance. Sophomore Ali Weimer was next in 41st, posting a time of 17:26.0 while Erin Reidy (17:30.9) and Brianne Brewster (17:39.7) both posted personal best times to finish in 47th and 56th, respectively.
WOMEN’S 6K AT EAU CLAIRE
A group of Minnesota’s middle-distance crew traveled to the state of Wisconsin to compete at the Blugold Invite on Friday afternoon. Sophomore Anna Lien was the top runner of the trio, finished the 6K event in a time of 23:44.0, a lifetime best at that distance. Lien finished 39th overall while Hannah Constable (24:31.8) finished 93rd with a personal best 6K time.
UP NEXT
Both the men and women will be off until October 14, when the Maroon and Gold travel to Charlottesville, Va., to run at the NCAA Pre-Nationals meet, hosted by the University of Virginia. That meet will begin at 8:45 a.m. ET, and is scheduled to be streamed on ACC Network Extra.
