The No. 13 ranked Minnesota volleyball team dominated the Michigan Wolverines on Friday, winning in three sets (25-9, 25-17, 25-18) at Maturi Pavilion in Minneapolis. Head coach Keegan Cook praised the team’s hard work in practice, particularly their serve and net play. Mckenna Wucherer led the Golden Gophers’ attack with 10 kills, while Kylie Murr contributed 14 digs and Phoebe Awoleye had six blocks. Melani Shaffmaster provided 23 assists, eight digs, and four blocks. Minnesota hit .287 with 35 kills, 39 digs, nine blocks, and eight aces, while Michigan struggled with a negative hitting percentage. The Golden Gophers dominated each set, never trailing in the first or third sets and only trailing by a maximum of five points in the second set. Notable achievements included Zeynep Palabiyik’s first two career aces and Phoebe Awoleye’s ninth match with five or more blocks. Minnesota’s next match is against No. 15 Penn State tomorrow night.
