    COLLEGE PARK, Md. — The Minnesota Golden Gophers, ranked No. 16 in the nation, will be traveling to play the Maryland Terrapins and the Rutgers Scarlet Knights on Friday and Saturday night, respectively. The game on Friday will be broadcasted at 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. ET on BTN, while the game on Saturday will be at 7 p.m. ET/6 p.m. CT on B1G+.

    Here are some important notes to know:

    – Keegan Cook, the head coach of the Golden Gophers, recently won his 200th career game as a head coach on Aug. 26.
    – Minnesota has won all 18 games in the overall series against Maryland.
    – The Gophers are currently ranked 16th in the AVCA poll.
    – Mckenna Wucherer, a sophomore outside for Minnesota, leads the team and ranks 12th in the Big Ten with 3.38 kills per set.
    – Melani Shaffmaster, a setter for the Gophers, ranks 8th all-time in Gophers history with 3,433 career assists.
    – Phoebe Awoleye, a middle for Minnesota, ranks No. 7 in the nation and No. 3 in the Big Ten in blocks per set with 1.52.
    – Minnesota will be playing six straight unranked opponents before facing No. 19 Purdue on Oct. 26.
    – Fifth year libero Kylie Murr ranks fourth in the Big Ten in digs per set with 4.17.
    – Melani Shaffmaster ranks third in the Big Ten with 9.75 assists per set against B1G teams.
    – The Gophers have a 2-6 record against ranked opponents this season.
    – Minnesota ranks second in the Big Ten in conference games in service aces per set with 1.67.
    – Taylor Landfair, a junior outside for the Gophers, was the 2022 Big Ten Player of the Year and an AVCA First Team All-American last season.
    – In their last game, the Gophers defeated Michigan in three sets and then fell to No. 15 Penn State in four sets.
    – This is the first time since 2006 that the Gophers have entered Big Ten play with four losses in the preseason.
    – The Gophers are currently ranked 16th in the AVCA poll.
    – Maryland is hoping to make their first NCAA Tournament since 2005.
    – Rutgers has already won eight games in the 2023 season.
    – Minnesota is 18-0 all-time against Maryland and 10-2 all-time against Rutgers.
