Graduate senior Jacob Pedersen is leading the University of Minnesota men’s golf team after 36 holes on Monday at the Alister Mackenzie Invitational in Fairfax, Calif.
The Gophers are currently in eighth place overall after the first day of competition, with a team score of 14-under par (274-280–554).
Tournament host-Cal-Berkeley holds the top spot with a team score of 46-under par (262-260–522).
Notable:
Pedersen is currently tied for 18th with a score of 5-under par (71-67) through the first 36 holes. He was one of two Gophers to record an eagle in the second round on the par-5 15th hole.
Stillwater natives Ben Warian (66-73) and Brock Winter (68-71) are tied for 27th. Winter recorded an eagle in the second round on the par-4 16th hole, while Warian tallied nine birdies in his first two rounds.
Junior Bennett Swavely (69-71) is tied for 38th, while graduate senior Gavin Hagstrom (72-72) finished the first day in a tie for 58th.
